Embossing & Die Cutting with the Gemini from Crafters Companion How To “101”

Gemini 101.png

I think one of the most confusing things for new crafters or card makers and even those of us who are a bit more seasoned is using an embossing and die cutting machine.  Well in the video below I’ll walk you through the amazing Gemini from Crafters Companion!  If you’ve used crank style machines those will be a thing of the past!

This is totally automatic and works with basically all brands of die and folders.  I go through set up, how to make “The Sandwich” to testing three of the major brands…Crafters Companion, Anna Griffin and Stampin’ Up.

Thanks so much for checking this out, please share my video on Facebook and Pin this on Pinterest if you can!!

I love making cards with all my Anna Griffin goodies but they end up being really thick sometimes….so I did a video showing you how to create a deeper envelope for those lovely Anna cards we like to make!  I used the Stampin’ Up Envelope Punch Board designed by We R Memory Keepers.  We have a Customer Pick configuration on HSN.com if you don’t have one already.

Please share this video idea if you like it! I’ve included the how to video below!

Huge Card stock Sale TODAY!

card stock deal.jpg

Hey Everyone,  I just wanted to post a picture of the huge cardstock and card/envelope deal going on today at Michaels!  The cardstock is 12″ x 12″ 48 pieces and gorgeous, textured slightly and normally $19 but it’s only $5 today (May 24th…thus the giant amount in my picture…lol). I also snatched up 3 sets of card/envelope bases which are also $5 each.  WOO HOO!!! No weird coupons needed!

P.S. in the same area the printed paper is on sale too for the same price and is adorable!

Cheap Dollar Store Paper Lantern into WOW!

Cheap and pretty Party Light Decor.jpg

I love getting bases for projects from the dollar store!  In the video below I take a cheap paper lantern and turn it into a gorgeous hanging decor piece.  And the best part is that it’s super inexpensive and the ideas are unlimited to make it match any occasion!

No more Inky Fingers!

Get Ready WithMe.jpg

So I love to use stamps when I’m creating a lot of my projects but I HATE getting my fingers dirty and inky.  Plus, for my job on the air at HSN, I gotta keep my nails looking good.  (ah the weird things we sometimes have to worry about…lol)

Anyway, I’ve been using standard ackward hospital gloves that are hard to get on and off and just plain cumbersome to use until now…..I’ve discovered the perfect solution and here it is!

How to Age Anna Griffin Cards

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 3.02.14 PM.png

I’ve been a huge fan of Anna Griffin for a very long time…. way before she’s become a dear friend!  She is just as wonderful in person as she is on the air with me on HSN.

I’m excited once again to work with her so I decided to share a fun and simple technique to take her, already beautiful cards, and give them an aged or vintage look!  Enjoy and share!

Give Flowers with a “Paper” Twist using the Cricut

20170414_104116.jpg

So we had dinner with some friends the other night.  We try to get together once every three months.  This month, my friend Denise and her partner Steve were hosting.  We always take a little something for the host but I really wanted to do something unexpected.  So I decided to give flowers but with a twist…all made by paper!

Here’s my You Tube Video but I’ve included the steps below!

Supplies: Crucit Machine , Tim Holtz Paper and button embellishments, chop sticks, Spectrum Nior Marker, Stampin Up Ink Pad,  floral foam, empty plastic spice bottle, glue gun.

Step 1: On my Cricut I used Creative Bug – flowers at 10.4″ W x  11″ H.  Cut out the exact same flowers using 4 different pieces of card stock.  Then cut out the tri fold Vase Banner at 10″ W x 7.5″ H.

Step 2: Go outside and scrape the heck out of each flower section (instantly gives it an aged look and helps soften the stiff card stock.)

Step 3: Ink all the edges of the flowers and ink the edges of the vase using Stampin’ Up Bravo Burgundy.  I’ve included a before and after to show you how much richer it looks using this method. It makes a huge difference. Roll up the edges of the petals using your finger nails.

Step 4: Color the chop sticks using Spectrum Nior markers

Step 5: Hot glue the flower layers together and glue on the chop sticks.

Step 6: Insert the floral foam into the plastic spice bottle (cut to fit) and then position the plastic vase inside the paper vase and glue it together.

Step 7: Place the flowers into the floral foam at two different heights!

Step 8: Hot glue ribbon around the skinniest part of the vase. I added a button in the center too.

Step 9: Take a picture and send it to me to post so we can all enjoy your creation!

Be sure to see the Cricut and all our accessories on HSN.com!  Also please pin and share this if you can!

Instant Photos are fun again with the Sprocket and real Rockets “Sneak Peak”

Remember the days of the instant Polaroid? (keep reading for the Rocket part…)

Wasn’t it always kinda magical that a picture would slowly appear right on the spot?  Fast forward to 2017 and HP has brought the concept into this century with their nifty portable photo printer the Sprocket!

The folks at HP let me loose with one over the weekend and me and my Sprocket had quite a busy and fun couple of days together.  How to sneak peek video here:

A great feature is that you can plug it into your car charger and add some juice to the rechargeable battery.

Goofing with my girlies Meredith and Christi!

What was the most fun was the reaction that everyone had to this cute little picture coming out of something that’s about the size of a deck of cards!

It’s super simple and we’ll be featuring it as our Today Special on HSN on May 5th starting at midnight.
